Sharing Sessions
Each class is holding a ‘sharing session’ this term. You will be able to book a slot where you can drop in to school to look through your child / children’s work with them. By having the sessions spread through the day with a restricted number of slots in each session and using the biggest rooms in the school, we are doing what we can to minimise the Covid risk. As you will only be in close contact with your own children masks are not required. We want you to have the opportunity to see what your children have been doing ‘in person’ and for you to have the chance for them to talk you through their work. I hope that these sessions will be a positive way for us to continue moving further towards some kind normality and, should the situation not change for the worse, for us to have face to face Parent Teacher Consultations after the reports have been sent out at the end of this term. Teachers will either have contacted you already about this or be doing so in the next week.
Rhydri Rugby
Congratulations to our rugby team who represented Rhydri Primary at the ‘Gateway Rugby Seven Aside Tag Rugby Festival’ which was held last week at the Principality Stadium. They played four matches, narrowly losing one and winning the other three. This was a fantastic achievement and the team were excellent ambassadors for the school. It was great that the parents were also allowed to come into the stadium to cheer them on! Next week we are sending a team to the Hockey Tournament being held in Ystrad Mynach.
Parent Governor Vacancy
One of our parent governors is stepping down at the end of the school year meaning that there will be a vacancy on the Governing Body of our Federation. Information about the role and how to apply will be shared in the coming weeks.
Friends of Rhydri Primary
Children will have the opportunity to demonstrate their gardening skills with a sunflower growing competition that the Friends of Rhydri Primary will be launching next week. For £1 per entry, children will be able to fill a flower pot with compost and plant their sunflower seed after school on Wednesday 11th, Thursday 12th and Friday 13th May. There are no restrictions on the number of entries per child. Children will then take their sunflowers home to nurture and grow as tall as possible. A date towards the end of the summer term will be announced to find the winner of the tallest sunflower, entries will be via photograph. More details of this will follow nearer the time.
Also don’t forget Freezy Fridays - £1 per ice lolly.
Music Lessons Payment Due
The Summer term payment is due for those Junior pupils who participate in peripatetic music lessons with Caerphilly Music Service. Please send in the payment of £30 as soon as possible to secure your child’s place for the summer term.
