Dear Parent / Carer,

NEU Strike Action Tuesday 14th February

Rhydri Primary will be closed to pupils on Tuesday 14th February however, we will be opening the school at 3.30pm for Animation Club after the school day if there is enough demand. If you would like your child to access this session please let Miss Lewis in the office know as soon as possible; if there are no children planning to come we will cancel the session with Mr Potter. There will be no need to wear school uniform for that session.

 Sporting Endeavours!

 Athletics Competition

Well done to the Rhydri athletes who came third in the athletics competition in Markham Leisure Centre last week.

 Rugby Tournament

At the time of writing our rugby team have just got back from representing Rhydri at the Dragons Rugby Tournament being held at Rodney Parade, Newport. They did Rhydri proud winning 3 and drawing 2 of their matches against schools from across Gwent.

 Netball Tournament

The Rhydri netballers carried the flag for our school at the Netball Tournament held last week.

 Football Tournament

and finally…  good luck to our footballers will be travelling to Pontllanfraith for a competition tomorrow.

I am very proud that, even though we are the smallest school in Caerphilly, we not only participate in these events but that we shine both in the way our children present themselves and in the success they achieve. Well done to all our team members and a big thank-you to the staff for organising the teams, preparing them for the games and taking them to the events.

Rhydri Book Day - May

As usual, to avoid the clash with St David’s Day and our Eisteddfod celebrations, we will be celebrating World Book Day as part of our ‘Book Week’ in May. A reminder will be sent out closer to the time.

New Directions Courses

We were pleased to welcome some trainers from New Directions who came in to deliver a First Aid session for Gold Class and British Sign Language sessions for both Gold and Silver last week.
